Welcome

As the global  marketplace grows with every day, so too does the need for organisations  to find new ways of sustaining their advantage in the marketplace.  My research explores how leaders can build Organisational Citizenship  Behavior among employees and utilise their people as a crucial source of  competitive advantage.

Motivating staff and building Organisational Citizenship Behavior

Self-Determination Theory (SDT) is a  theory of motivation and highlights the significance of psychological  need satisfaction to motivate employees. Psychological needs  satisfaction refers to the satisfaction of basic psychological needs,  considered essential for optimal behavior and performance among  employees.

The three psychological needs are innate and when  these needs are supported and fulfilled, they promote volitional effort  for activities and Organisational Citizenship Behavior (OCB). Psychological need satisfaction has long been central to work motivation  theory, and is asserted to be among the most crucial elements in the  area of work motivation and commitment among employees.

..findings show that overall the majority of SDT dimensions were significantly correlated to OCB dimensions.
